Mundunur, by Michele Antonio Di Marco

I edited the book Mundunur: A Mountain Village Under the Spell of South Italy, by Michele Antonio Di Marco. It is now available from Via Media Publishing.

This work examines the history of Montenero val Cocchiara, Italy, a rural mountain town that has stood since the tenth century. Di Marco spent years researching and writing the book, but, given that it is about his ancestral homeland, in many ways Mundunur is the work of a lifetime.

We see the land and its people, the hope and the suffering, the faith and the corruption that mark Italian history. Through images, stories, and historical records, we come to understand the people’s joy, humor, and sorrow.

Di Marco’s prose is clear and insightful—and sometimes opinionated. It’s a wonderful book.
