Jason Thalken’s Fight Like a Physicist is the #1 new release among Amazon’s martial arts titles. And to think I knew him way back when.
Halftime Radio Theater
On Friday we covered the final Kingman High School football game of the season. It was October 30, the seventy-seventh anniversary of the radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. In celebration of Audio Drama Day, we played a couple of clips from that broadcast.
We also invited members of the KHS drama club to perform in our booth. They delivered excerpts of Trifles, by Susan Glaspell, and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged. They will be performing both plays at the school this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 5, 6, and 7, at 7 p.m.
Here is a look at our halftime radio theater. The audio didn’t quite fit with the video, but I cut this together as well as I could.
Big thanks to director Clare Schroeder and her actors, Denise Wiley, Hannah Heiden, Adam Gatliff, and Daniel Pozenel. Thanks also to play-by-play man Tom Erickson.

A Game of Inches
This is a short piece I put together for last weekend’s broadcast of the Kingman Academy–Kingman High School game. It features Tigers quarterback Kekoa Makaiwi-Stroup and head coach D. B. Stroup. Commentary by Tom Erickson.
The music is “Mother’s Radio,” from Graveyard Mountain Home, by Chroma Key. The composers are Kevin Moore and Theron Patterson.
My thanks to Kekoa and D.B. for sharing this story. Thanks to play-by-play man Tom Erickson for his commentary and his kind words.
This Just In: First Defense
We at YMAA are proud to announce our latest book, First Defense: Anxiety and Instinct for Self-Protection, by David Hopkins, PhD. Dr. Hopkins is a clinical psychologist, krav maga expert, and international man of mystery. I enjoyed serving as his editor.
Kudos to copyeditor extraordinaire Doran Hunter for his work on this book.
