Not long ago my pals at Cascio Interstate Music called with some exciting news. In 2013 I entered a drawing to win a Tama Bill Bruford signature snare drum, autographed by the man himself. I won. Really. Amazing and true.
The Bruford snare is 6” x 14”, has ten lugs, and has a six-ply maple/birch/maple shell. I’ve used it in the studio and it’s warm and round, with plenty of crack. On Wednesday I took it out for its first night on the town. I was at Treasure Island on the Las Vegas Strip with the Las Vegas Jazz Trio featuring Kai Brant. It was a great night of music, and this beautiful new snare was right for the job.
My thanks to Interstate Music, Tama, and of course the legendary Bill Bruford.

We call it Inside Via Media Publishing. In this first episode, I interview Jan Kauskas, author of Laoshi: Tai Chi, Teachers, and Pursuit of Principle.
