On Wednesday night the New Rhythm Quartet played Gordon Biersch Las Vegas, Boca Park. Vocalist Joyce Simpson joined us for a few songs, and she rocked the place. We weren’t so bad ourselves.
Breakbeat 23 Video Shoot
On Tuesday, March 26, I met up with Mark “Cutz” Cutsforth, Kai Brant, and Martin Motnik at PM Digital Media Group in Las Vegas. We shot a promotional video for Breakbeat 23, a live EDM experience.

Spell It “NRQ”
The New Rhythm Quartet will be at Gordon Biersch Las Vegas—the Boca Park location—on Wednesday, April 3. It will be a celebration of fusion goodness.
Oh, and feel free to call us “NRQ” if “rhythm” is too difficult to spell.
Jazz at the Marriott
The Las Vegas Jazz Trio featuring Kai Brant played the Las Vegas Marriott Wednesday night. This was another private event for the helicopter convention. It went well for us, and I see that it went well for them, as I found this information on their site:
HELI-EXPO 2013 was a great success! HAI hosted 60 helicopters, 736 exhibitors, and 20,393 attendees, making us once again the world’s largest helicopter trade show and exposition.
At the end of the night I was loading out—pushing my drum cart and pulling the hardware case. I’ve gotten considerable practice with this, and I can move my whole kit in one trip, but it’s still some work. Altogether it weighs around 230 lbs. On my way down the hall, I heard a guy tell his friend, “There’s one way to stay in shape: play the drums in a band.”

Jazz at the Bellagio
The Las Vegas Jazz Trio featuring Kai Brant played Hyde, a night club in the Bellagio, Monday night. It was a corporate event, secret-society stuff I cannot disclose. But I will say the Perrier was exquisite—a fine vintage indeed.
